Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, counting Aries from the point of the vernal equinox. Aspects are the angular relationships between planets. Conjunction (0°)—a fusion of energies. Trine (120°)—harmony and talents. Sextile (60°)—favorable opportunities. Square (90°)—tension and challenges. Opposition (180°)—polarization, a need for balance. Aspects determine how the planets interact with each other in your chart.

Synastry is the comparison of two people's natal charts to analyze compatibility. Progressions are a forecasting method: each day of life corresponds to one year of development. A Solar Return is a chart for the moment the Sun returns to its exact birth position (on or around your birthday), used to forecast the year ahead.
